How to create a site collections in MOSS 2007 ?

In this article we will discuss how to create a site collection in moss 2007. Also you can follow how to create site collection in SharePoint 2010.

Site collections are a group of sites that form a hierarchy with a single top level website with a collection of subsites below it. These are the steps to create a site collection
Step-1:
Go to Start->AllPrograms->Microsoft Office Server-> Microsoft SharePoint 3.0 Central Administration.


Step-2:
Go to Application Management.


Step-3:
Then one window will open goto Create Site Collection.


Step-4:
Then you can change the web application by clicking the dropdown list and go to the change web application option.


Step-5:
Now you have to mention the title and description .


Step-6:
Then you have to provide the url name.


Step-7:
Now you have to select one template .so first select collaboration option and then click team site option,you can also create Blank site,Document workspace,wiki site,Blog by choosing that options.But here i am taking that team site option inorder to create one team site.


Step-8:
Now you have to provide the username in both the text boxes and then click ok.

Then one window will open with the message Top-Level Site Successfully Created and also with the Url.
