There is a chance that you will get error as "The file reached the maximum download limit. Check that the full text of the document can be meaningfully crawled" while working with SharePoint 2010 search. There are different reasons for this, but one of the popular reason is because by default sharepoint crawl a file size of 16MB. So it will always crawl 16 MB file, and after this limit reached, SharePoint show the error message "The file reached the maximum download limit. Check that the full text of the document can be meaningfully
crawled".
Solution-1:
Increase velue in MaxDownloadSize in Registry

For this
- Open Registry editor (Start -> Run -> Regedit.exe)

- Then locate for key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office Server\12.0\Search\Global\Gathering Manager.

- Open Edit - New - DWORD Value. Name it MaxDownloadSize

- Double-click, change the value to Decimal, and type the maximum size (in MB) for files that the greater downloads.

- Restart the server.

- Start Full Crawl.

2nd Solution:
We can also use PowerShell cmdlets to increase the value like below:

$var = Get-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceApplication
$var.SetProperty("MaxDownloadSize", )
$var.Update()
