In this post we will discuss about some Architectural changes in SharePoint 2013. Also you can check out my previous posts on:

- Create content type in SharePoint 2013

- New Features of SharePoint 2013

- There are various improvements made towards database layer like advanced indexing feature implemented towards SQL Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2012. Also incorporate a new feature called shredded storage through which only the changed pieces are updated at the database layer. This reduces the impact caused by document updates.
- A new cache service known as Distributed cache service has been implemented which is enabled by default in all front end web servers in SharePoint 2013 that improves performance by caching information such as social data authentication tokens.

- SharePoint 2013 search provides improvements towards content crawling, content processing, analytics processing, indexing, query processing, and search administration components.

- SharePoint 2013 integrates Request Management which helps in prioritizing and filtering of requests, and load balancing based on weighting schemes and routing requests to appropriate web front ends.

- SharePoint 2013 introduces new service applications such as App Management Service to support and manage apps in SharePoint 2013, Machine Translation Service that supports automated language translation of files, and the Work Management Service that provides task aggregation functionality.

- Web analytics service application of SharePoint 2010 has been replaced with Web analytics platform which is integrated into the search service application of SharePoint 2013.

- SharePoint 2013 introduced now Windows Azure Workflows.
